Acupuncture stimulate the body to use its own resources to heal itself over time, similar to the way exercise help certain conditions.

It is often better to address a issue instead of ignoring it and hoping it will go away.

Best results are obtained if acupuncture treatments are given regularly for three to four months before any insemination, IVF or egg transfer procedures.

Studies now also show that it is beneficial to have acupuncture before and after embryo transfers.

There is also a great overall therapeutic effect from acupuncture treatments especially if it is given regularly for a few months before any fertility treatments.

Fertility treatments are an extremely stressful time for, especially the woman, but for the couple as a whole as well.

Numerous research studies have shown that acupuncture are wonderfully effective to reduce the stress and anxiety of going through fertility treatments and unfortunately the accompanied depression that follow as well in failed attempts.

It is quite sensible to give acupuncture a go seeing that their is so many positive benefits it can produce to help with infertility and infertility treatments.

Now as with everything in life there are some risks if acupuncture is used either as the only treatment or as part of other infertility treatments.

There might be a slight risk of miscarriage if certain acu-points are used during pregnancy.

Now these forbidden points during pregnancy should be well known by all acupuncturists. It is still advisable to tell your acupuncturist if there is the slightest change that you might be pregnant. Just to be safe it is best to go to an acupuncturist that specializes in acupuncture and infertility.

A good alternative to the conventional labor painkillers, and it can be applied by yourself or your partner, is electro-acupuncture or acupressure to certain points.

In most cases the result is that you can go home sooner and that also means lower hospital costs.

Extensive research now also show that combining acupuncture, chinese herbal medicine, and traditional medical fertility treatments are really quite effective.

If acupuncture and chinese herbal formulas don’t help with conception then it might be time to include traditional medical IVF treatments. Then as well, if medical IVF treatments just don’t work for you then give acupuncture a go.
