Reach Infertility – Really?

Knowing that you are at a point where you reach infertility is acknowledging that conceiving isn’t always smooth sailing. However once you are aware that a problem exists, you can begin to take positive action.

You can seek help from a fertility specialist and learn if there is a medical procedure to help alleviate your fertility problem, or the possibility of conceiving with medically assisted reproduction. There are a range of options available, so it is worth finding out if there is one that will work for you.

A lot of research have now also shown that acupuncture is a proven method to assist conception even if you or your doctor think you might have reached infertility.

Should you reach infertility, the following are some of the options which you may want to speak with your fertility specialist about:

Hormone therapy

If either the male or female reach infertility, then the use of hormone therapy is one option that can help improve their chances of conceiving. An imbalance of progesterone or high levels of testosterone in the female can cause reduced fertility.

Treating the testosterone imbalance with oral oestrogen and progesterone tablets (similar to oral contraceptive) can restore a much needed balance to allow for conception.

If the woman has a progesterone imbalance, then the use of progesterone medication in the form of tablets, injections or creams will help ensure the embryo implants successfully in the uterus and the pregnancy can proceed to term.

IVF

In Vitro Fertilisation or IVF is a good option for couples who reach infertility. This practice is an assisted reproductive technology. In simplest of terms, IVF is the fertilisation of the egg with the man’s sperm outside of the woman.

Once there are viable embryos, they are implanted in the uterus. The IVF procedure is one that is carried out by highly skilled medical specialists and has been a means for many couples to be able to conceive.

Donor eggs or sperm

One reason that couples reach infertility is due to a lack of viable eggs or sperm. In this situation, there is the possibility of using a donor egg or donor sperm.

The procedure often goes hand in hand with IVF and is a way that a lack of viable sperm or eggs can be overcome. As with IVF, in most instances the conception will take place outside of the body and the embryo will be transplanted into the uterus after conception.

Finding an infertility option that can work for you means that when you reach infertility you don’t have to face the possibility of not conceiving. It is a point at which you can acknowledge the problems and start seeking real solutions that will help you and your partner to conceive.

The point at which you reach infertility is an emotional period, but there is support and specialist medical help available from fertility counsellors and fertility experts.

With the right team on your side, you’ll have the opportunity to reach a positive outcome.
