Reasons for Infertility

There are quit a few reasons for infertility and some of them might be physical.

These physical conditions can affect one or both partners in the relationship.

Lets look at some conditions that might be the reason for infertility in females.

The free and easy flow of the menstrual cycle are under the extremely complex control of various hormones.

Lets start with the most common reason for infertility. Problems with ovulation. Even the smallest change in the complex ovarian cycle can prevent the normal ovulation process.

This is normally caused by imbalances with the hormones concentrations, timing or an interruption of the signals between the hypothalamus and the pituitary.

Ovulation are also affected by sudden weight gain or loss or obesity or very low weight.

Fertility normally declines with age and accelerates after 35 years of age.

Current or previous sexually transmitted disease conditions can be a reason for infertility due to the possible scarring that cause blockages to the fallopian tubes.

Then there are the problem with cervical mucus.

Normally the cervical mucus prevent sperm to pass through.

During ovulation the mucus are suppose to be more runny and easy for the sperm to go through so that it can fertilize the egg in the fallopian tube.

If the mucus don’t change then this cannot happen.

Some woman also have mucus that will actually kill of the sperm due to special immune system antibodies that is present in the mucus.

Some womens reason for infertility is due to endometriosis.

Another major reason of infertility is polycystic ovarian syndrome.

Some cancers and their treatments can be a reason for infertility that might or might not lead to permanent infertility.

Numerous studies have shown that smoking and alcohol are a direct contributory reason for infertility.

Many reasons for infertility in males are normally easily treatable.

The main reason for male infertility are related to disorders of the sperm itself.

Two very important factors in sperm health are the number of sperm present and the ability of the sperm to move vigorously.

Their are a few conditions that can be the reason for infertility that affect the sperm.

Their are some evidence that not only women but mens fertility are also affected by age.

Sometimes a mans own immune system can produce antibodies against his own sperm.

Just as in the case with women a major reason for infertility in men are due to smoking and alcohol use and some medications can also be a contributory factor.

Mens fertility are also highly susceptible to the effects of cancer and cancer treatments.

Sexually transmitted diseases and the accompanied infections might also be a damaging effect to a mans reproductive tract.

Exposure of the genital area, over long periods of time, to heat from such sources as laptops, heated car seats, hot baths and underpants instead of boxer shorts are all known reasons of infertility for some men.

Sperm are also very susceptible to things like radiation, pesticides and herbicides and might lead to abnormal sperm.

Some medical conditions that affect the central nervous system or the pituitary gland or diseases like diabetes can also cause male infertility.

Some other reasons for infertility in males are scrotal varicocele, retrograde ejaculation, testicals that haven’t descended or erectile dysfunction also called impotence.
